about

r1ft.com is a creative outlet that serves in keeping dangerous violent video gamers off the streets and indoors, writing and ranting about topics no one really cares about. We can get very passionate about trivial things like game design and mechanics or why game X doesn’t have feature Y in it. We try not to remind ourselves that there are much more important things to worry about in the world and are content in our little bubble of self-importance, feigning ignorance to the real-world and other matters that would actually make a difference to our future generations.

With that said, though we enjoy our little secure life of gluttony and pursuit of higher entertainment, most of us secretly wish for some sort of apocalyptic event that would free us from our self-imposed digital prisons and 9-5 jobs. It is our inability to do so under our own free will that we struggle with on a regular basis.

Lastly, when I say “we” I mean “I”. Isn’t that sad? One man. One vision. Too much time on his hands. I spend more time writing about MMO’s than I do playing them.

This is me – Daniel aka Daedren

I’m a normal family guy. I work as a private investment consultant in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Sometimes, I get to freelance as a consultant with venture capitalists (mainly European) investing in the massive gaming industry. That means I get to talk to actual game companies and developers and try to decide if a game will be worth investing in or not.

In my free time I do freelance writing and share my feelings on the MMOG industry. I write for fun here at r1ft, but I also write for sites like 1up.com and The Escapist Magazine from time to time.

If you’d like to contact me for an interview, article idea or to discuss venture capitalist opportunities, mail me at daniel@r1ft.com.
