So it looks like most people are eagerly awaiting the arrival of various PC/Console games that are due to drop in the coming weeks.
The most notable of course being Grand Theft Auto IV, who’s “collector’s edition” for the PS3 and Xbox360 both feature a “lock box” and designer “Rock Star key chain”. Add to that mix, some miscellaneous other “items” and you have for a mere $90 [US] an assortment of unneeded plastic and quasi-metal items which add nothing more then weight and therefore cost in the shipping of the “game”.
And then you have the Madden ‘09 collector’s edition coming this August from EA. This is the 20th anniversary of the Madden Franchise so I guess I can see trying to create something special, and I guess they have… since you basically we’ll get two games for the price of two. (Yeah, that’s not a typo.)
Madden ‘09 20th Anniversary Edition will include NFL Head Coach ‘09 as well as some other “little” assorted media type things. All again for $90 [US].

Head Coach
I’m not sure when it was decided we needed extra-special-multi-colored-platinum-candy-flavored-collector’s-editions of everything, but damn. I guess at this point I’m just waiting for the first game that offers the extra-special “Gang-Star” edition, which will include a small bottle of Tanqueray, a Hustler, Newports a Magnum and a $5 gift card for Popeyes.
Great, now I want some fried chicken.
