Well it’s finally here… the “big announcement” from our “good pals” over at EA. The cover athlete for the latest installment of Madden (’09): Bret “I Love Me Some Pills” Farve.

Now the world can continue revolving… at the least world according to fantasy football players, whom every year wait to hear who the next “victim” will be, the one bestowed the great honor of gracing the EA cornerstone franchise covers. Since given what we know about the vaunted “Madden Curse” this seems reasonable.

And this year it looks good, since the player they put on the cover wont be on the field. Which is actually kind of genius… except that when it’s reported Farve pulled a rotator cup or something falling from his riddin’ tractor, EA will have some “splain’n” to do.

Oh well… I think it would have been funny if they had put Bill Belichick on the front as the first coach to grace the cover of Madden since the six legged turkey man did it himself way back when.

Well, thank god it’s Friday.
